🏕️ I decided to take a few days off to celebrate...
Legit never thought I'd be so excited for an API. Especially one that wasn't mine.
So, this edition of Chirps is coming to you from Tygart Lake State Park in wild and wonderful West Virginia, where I'm currently camping with two wild beasts.
Enjoy the weekend!
Partnership, not Sponsorship
I've always struggled with the word Sponsorship. I think I know why, now that I've looked at the formal definition in the Cambridge Dictionary:
Sponsorship: money that is given, usually by a company, to support a person, organization or activity.
Yep, that's what comes to mind when I hear that word. This seems too one-sided.
Now let's review this definition.
Partnership: an agreement between organizations, people, etc. to work together.
That sounds more like it. An agreement. To work TOGETHER.
🙊 Words matter.
This Exists: The Ketchup & Fries Plant
According to my mom, if you live in Pittsburgh you should never plant anything before Mother's Day. Which is why our yearly trip to Brenckle's Greenhouse always takes place this time of year.
My favorite 2021 purchase: The Ketchup & Fries Plant! This is my kind of science experiment! Horticulturists hand-graft a tomato plant on top of a potato plant. Tomatoes and potatoes are in the same plant family, so they're naturally compatible; no genetic modification 🤯
✨ 🇩🇪 Tanz Tanz Revolution from 99% Invisible
Part 1: What brought the people of East and West Berlin together after the fall of the wall? Techno music – inspired by the dark, industrial sounds of the Detroit techno scene.
Part 2: A quick look at the origins of the Detroit techno scene, and how the music eventually made its way to Berlin.
👑 The Crown on Netflix: Yeah yeah yeah, late to the game here. I'm just not into the Royal Family. Nathaniel convinced me to give this a watch. Glad he did. I'm currently binging in a tent.
☝️ This is something I've always wanted to cross off the list 🤔
New Favorite Road Sign
Something caught my attention on the drive through West Virginia. This road sign:
Why? Mostly because they included the hat.
Fun Fact: There are more than 500 federally approved road placards used in the United States.
Until next time,
Side note: I updated the reply-to email address in this new Ghost account. Feel free to email me back! Thanks for the heads up on that, Ted! That's 3x! 😹😹😹
